Why do people feel the need to slag off other towns in the UK? The idiot who is currently saying Hull is the most stupid is just the latest in a long list of people who really should think about what they say before posting it on here. I read that question with anger, I live in Hull, and happen to really like it here. The people are not stupid and I resent your accusations.
I guess my point is, with all this hatred in the world, why do people still feel the need to ***** about eachother, where we live, how we dress, what choices we make? Why can't we all just try to be tolerant of eachother and accept that although there are really bad areas in the world, there are also really good bits and we should celebrate that rather than destroy it.

A few years ago people where making fun of people from Swindon, or Luton. So I suppose that Kingston-Upon-Hull is the flavour of the month.
Mind I totally disagree what has been said about Hull and think Hull is a good place, and I enjoyed living there for three years, and I did not find to many people were stupid.
Do not forget that William Wilberforce comes from the City and unlike 2 jags actually did something for Human Rights & the Country.

I have very happy memories of Hull, I have to say, although it does have a strange savoury smell to it.
Anyway the reason for these things, like the "Crap Towns" book and tabloid reports is so that some people in the London media can sneer at the provincials, as it's the only thing that can bring some meaning into their miserable lives. Most of the people outside that group, that slag off other towns, have probably never been there, they just slavishly follow what the Sun tells them. Don't take any notice of them. If you're happy in Hull, that's the most important thing.

It has always been human nature to focus on negatives, and it's actually built into our psychological makeup. An example of this would be....are you actually aware how well you feel right now? If you have any ailment at all right now, eg a headache, back pain etc, then that is precisely what your brain will focus on.
Are history books filled with accounts of times and places where everyone was happy and healthy? No, they are compiled on negative events. Think about it.
On the plus side though, if all we ever did was focus on what's good in the world, we would never progress.

I agree I live in Hull and I do not regard myself or any of my friends as stupid. There are clever and not so clever people in every town and city. However the person who issued this statement is truly stupid and should do us all a favour and SHUT UP.

Ah; that would have been me, wouldn't it! I was merely quoting the Metro newspaper from this morning which, in their language, reported that it had been voted the most 'stupidest place in the UK'. On my visit to Hull I found it to be grey and boring, but that's my opinion - I'd say the same for my home town. But bless you for trying to bring in a serious current affairs topic on what was a piece of banter!

Hull trains, that travel between Hull and Kings Cross, are really nice too. So clean, and the staff are surprisingly pleasant.
Hull itself is a bit naff, though.

I agree we are all equal and some good - some bad no town is realy different than any others.
We all need to try and get on together instead of arguing and slagging off other people / places

Yea, I'm from Nottingham - went to Uni in Liverpool and am now back where I grew up & guess what? I've never been the victim of a mugging type crime! (Touch wood) Nottingham rules, its got great shops, good night life and is as averagely violent as any major city with its minority of idiots.
