Your question is interesting and as a matter of fact sometimes it is what one wants to hear and sometimes really wanting information.
Usually when accessing answers at the time of need is seeking for information and when having fun is more what you like to hear

There'll be some who'll asked for the sake of asking, and the comments received will not count. But I'm pretty sure that there'll be some of us who really are in search of an answer, or wanting to hear a second opinion (besides their own).

Who really knows. All I can do is ask a question and hope that I get thoughtful honest answers. That is what I try to do 99% of the time. There are those exceptions of course when the question is so off the wall unbelievable that I have to answer with a "grow up" or "get a life" .

I think people ask questions for several reasons. One is they really want an opinion. Another is to validate their opinion. A third is to see if anyone else has as much information on a given subject as they do.

Every question that I have asked I honestly wanted everyone elses opinion. Most of the time it has worked out where I get great answers. But, I do know that a lot of people ask stupid questions and they get stupid answers.

There's little doubt in my mind that most people who ask questions are simply trying to get whatever opinion they have validated. I can't tell you the number of times I've answered questions thoroughly and in great detail, only to have someone else give a lame response and still be chosen as "best" because he/she parroted the questioner's position.

I like to cofirm my beliefs and so ask questions to reassure myself. But I am open minded and if I get a sensible question I do my re-thinking.
But you have to take a stand somewhere.
Not everybody could be right.
Unless you as the question "What is life?"

Enjoy

I agree with you. Normally people do like their point of view to be seconded. Most of the times those answers are picked up as best.
