I have 2 children and if they cough for more than two days, I take them to the doctor. But if you feel like you can treat him at home, go to the drug store and ask the pharmacist what kind of cough syrup you can give a 9 month old child and how much!

Talk to your doctor first, let them recommend a syrup for the cold and cough. Be careful with that poor baby. Always ensure the baby's hair is properly dried after a bath and before going to bed,

I wouldn't without talking to a doctor first (at least the first time to get some instructions/suggestions) about brand, dose etc.
Some brands have stuff that's not recommended for babies (I don't think they're supposed to have DM ones, and most doctors recommend alcohol free brands) and it's REALLY easy to get the dosing wrong.
I've read that in infants too much Infant Tylenol (because of not giving the dose for the correct weight) can cause kidney or liver failure or something serious (and it happens quick! You apparently don't have to screw it up very often to have a really negative impact.)
Better safe than sorry.
Good luck, hope your little one feels better soon.

I would buy a vaporizer. I would also buy Vicks vapor bath. Consult with a doctor to ensure there are no underlying issues that make this continue to be a problem.
Cough syrups don't ushually do much. They do sell a brand just for infants. Its Pedia something.

Just read the instructions on the cough syrup. I suspect that they will tell you not to give it to infants under 2 years old.

There is an infant cough syrup, make sure that you give those, and take care of the dosage.

NO.........
use a humidifier in your room......like a Vicks Vaporizer.....
use Vicks on his neck, back and chest....if it's too strong.....use a layer of Vaseline then apply the Vick's.
Also put a dab behind his ears.....becuz the ears, nose and throat are all connected.......
And you should look into getting a baby vac.....which sucks out ALL the congestion from the sinus and will prevent any ear or sinus infection.
They use this in the hospitals....we have one and best investment we ever bought!
