In my opinion Joane is one of the biggest idiots on yahoo answers. She's no doubt mutilated her own children because she sees them as her property rather than idividual human beings. Stop treating your children like dollies and grow up.
I feel sorry for your children, piercing babies is disgusting, if you saw a mother abusing her child would you say that was her business?

Oh my god get over yourself... A tattoo is permant having your ears pierced isn't. Why do people make such a big deal about this topic? I wanted my ears pierced from the time I was 4 and had to wait until I was 9 though. I'm pregnant with a little girl right now and I plan on having her ears pierced when she's a baby. Heck, she has to get shots that are more painful than ear piercing but you people don't make a big deal over that. Why don't you just raise your children the way you see fit and let others do the same. As long as people aren't beating the crap out of there kids or neglecting them then just let them be.

I had my ears pierced in the maternity ward before I even left the hospital. And no I haven't gone on to be covered in piercings or tattoos. It can be a cultural thing. I think to say it is disgusting is rather extreme, so I'll have a pop at you for that instead!

I live on a scutty council estate in the North East of England and it seems as though it is an unwritten rule that you have to pierce your baby's ears within one week of birth, and I don't just mean once per lobe - these idiot mothers think it's ok to stab their childs lobes 3 or 4 times and plug in the most enormous hoops made of cheap gold.

I saw one the other day - mother must have been about 17 and she had about 12 ear rings in each ear - her baby daughter (about six months old) had two per ear and her son (about 3) had one ear and his eyebrow pierced. In my opinion she (the mother) should be had up for child abuse.

Would you have your baby boy circumcised? No health reason for it, painful for the baby, and only done for cultural/appearance sake. But people do it all over the world, every day. For the record, both my sons are circumcised, and I had my daughter's ears pierced as an infant. None of them are emotionally scarred because of it, none of them suffered any health problems from it, and all are quite healthy and happy today (ages 13, 16, & 21).

Parents pierce baby's ears while they are small and not feeling so much pane. That way they can get comfortable with era rings sooner. The only reason for doing the piercing on babes is that one can distinguish them, whether it is a boy or a girl:)

Cuz people are stupad and treat their babies like play-things.....
That's why they do it.....

I remember a nurse told us that she has seen so many cases of little girls where the ear lobe has grown OVER the backing of the earring and the babies are in so much pain obviously.......
and it's all for the sake of looking like a little princess!!

I've never pierced my daughter's ears......she's turning 2....

I'll leave it up to her to make the choice when she is old enough.

Thats the next logical step. Then get their belly buttons pierced and run chains from it to their ears.
I hate to see babies with pierced ears. Once the child is old enough to ask for it, and responsible enough to take care of them once they have been pierced, then that is the right time. Not when they are so small, they don't even know what it is. All they know is mummy hurt me by ramming a piece of metal through each ear.

Why do you care if other people pierce their child's ears anyway? If you don't want to do it to your own child that's fine and I can understand that. There are worse things that one can do to their children. You vaccinate your child and that hurts way worse than having their ears pierced. Comparing tatooing to ear piercing is a little extreme.
