I appreciate your ambition but most US airlines have been going through tough times lately and have been laying off pilots, flight attendants and mechanics. If you still want to try, there are many US-based airlines besides American such as Delta, United, US Airways, Southwest, Jet Blue, Continental, Northwest and many more. Northwest, United, American, Continental and others also fly internationally.
