I like the old xmas carols I just feel the secular songs sum up the commercialism of it all, like I wish it could be xmas everyday

Sparkleyt - "if I am in a shop and it comes on i will walk out, even if I am standing in the queue". I think that's what we call an over reaction, don't ya think?

So here it is Merry Xmas (or Merry Xmas Everybody, as is the correct title) must be doing something right as everyone still sings along to it after 33 years!!

Yes, Christmas is too commercial, but lighten up a bit. Goodwill to all men, and all that. You can still enjoy the music (Carols or Slade) without losing the real meaning.

Having said that, are we actually allowed to enjoy the real meaning anymore without the fear of maybe offending someone?!!

I used to love them but now I'm older the year flies by and seems only five minutes since last hearing them. The UK loves cheesy songs dont they?

I'm not into carols as i'm not christian and I celebrate Yule instead.

I actually quite like the American style christmas songs - Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby etc. Miles away from my usual heavy metal but very cosy and wintery sounding :o)

I don't mind them too much, its when they start playing them that really gets to me. Honestly, its only October and already I can feel the Christmas squeeze beginning, have you seen how many toy ads there are on tv at the moment....

Sorry, am ranting. They're good at the right time, ie Christmas.

I hate that song with a passion, if I am in a shop and it comes on i will walk out, even if I am standing in the queue. I love the old Bing Crosby crooned ones though

HUMBUG

i love love love christmas, and only for the tacky songs, tacky decoration and presents presents presents. i dont care how commercial it gets, i just love it. bring on the merry christmas songs. better that on the radio than some somber version of Away in a Manger or something of the same ilk.

I can't stand watching how everyone acts around Christmas. It all about commercialism and money. Ask any kid in primary school what Christmas is about and there'll be one answer - PRESENTS, need I say more? I think it sucks.

It's not just you - they drive me mad. I particularly dislike the way they seem to start in October these days. Ban them till a week before Christmas, I say!
