A lot of people can confused over oscar diet so I'll give you a few pointers.
- DO NOT feed them feeder fish. Not only do you risk bringing in parasites but consider the overall health of the feeder fish. Feeder fish are often underfed, have heavy parasite loads and live in water with high amounts of ammonia and nitrates which their bodies absorb. Considering fish make a tiny part of an oscar's natural diet.
- If you have to feed your oscar live food try soft bodied insects and arthropods. Adult mealworms, waxworms, earthworms, freshly molted crickets and super worms are better alternatives. Most of your corporate pet stores like Petsmart and Petco regularly carry these. Believe it or not but larva and drowning insects makes up the bulk of the natural oscar diet.
- A 3" oscar should be fed once a day, when it reaches 5-6" feed it every other day and once a full 10-12" it should only be fed 2-3 times out of the week. No matter how much your oscar begs to be fed do not give...over feeding will only hurt the fish since an oscar's digestive system is incapable of dealing with constant over feeding.
- Feel free to use cichlid pellets as a staple diet. Frozen bloodworms, brime shrimp and live prey can be supplements. Make sure you add some greens (like peas) in their diet. Oscar's aren't carnivores but instead omnivores. Varity is key in any animal’s diet.
- If you want to make your oscar grow faster then use beef heart...you can buy this at your local pet store and is commonly kept in with their frozen food. However keep in mind that high protein foods will only increase the amount of waste your oscar puts off and a healthy oscar will reach over 8in within less than a year. Trying to increase their growth is not needed...oscars grow faster then most cichlids.

Try dropping other foods in the tank at the same time as the blood worms. They will grab some by mistake and slowly learn to accept them on a more regular basis. Sinking pellets might work better. They can grab them on the way down. They will also eat earth worms, beef heart, peas (popped out of their skin), frozen shrimp. Try a variety of food on a regular basis, avoid feeder fish as you run too big a risk of introducing a sickness into your tank.

They will eat just about what ever you put in the tank, you can even train them to eat out of your hand, if you stop feeding them the blood worms and start with some pellets they will eat them. Leave the blood worms as a treat you can feed them feeder guppies as well but not all the time maybe once a week or so or they will get "hole head" were if they eat to many guppies they will die and get a big hole in there head hints the name "hole head"
hope this helps you

They will eat anything alive, so if you can find any kind of bug, worm etc it should like that, and its good for it as its what they would naturaly eat in the wild
As a general rule with fish, their stomach is no bigger then their eyes, so a solid feed twice a day would be sufficent, as oscars will eat them selves stupid, they dont know when to stop.

pick the right nutrition. Oscars are maximum heavily on the concern of piranhas. those aggressive fish love their stay nutrition, yet could no longer eat those treats each day. The nutrition you pick for your Oscar will count upon the size of your fish. toddler Oscars will be at liberty eating large flakes and small pellets. once they strengthen more suitable, finding out on a more suitable pellet is the perfect determination

Just use a variety of food products. Oscar's are Omnivores (meaning they eat meats and aquatic veggies/veggies in general).
You can soak those pellets with Garlic extract to entise the fish to eat them (and trust me - they will!)
Feeders alone are not good because Oscars can develope something known as HITH (Hole In The Head disease).
Variety in their diet is key. Nothing wrong with feeding them feeders every now and again, but just not as their only staple.

now if u want to make them big so u have to feed them non-veg like flesh, liver, hearts of eating animals.
if u r vegetarian so u have to bear this.
oscar feel more hungry if u change ur water daily not full tank.
