Could be either. You need a mammogram. Don't put it off.

H there !

Not really !
It depends upon so many other factors and symptoms, which are not available in the question !

Generally speaking, cancer can take any form..maybe it will start as an ulcer, or lump., anywhere, which includes breast !
But majority of the situations, in the younger age group, the cause for "lump in the breast" is a fibrous overgorwth called as "fibroadenoma" or changes called as" cystic disease"...
As the age advances, due to the changes in the hormone balance, some changes will occur..in the beast too..
In the age group after 35 years, even the slightest change in the breast,..... maybe a discharge,.... or maybe a lump,... or maybe a change in appearance, need to be viewed seriously, and a surgical consultation taken..

Some further investingations like "mammogram" will help in confirming the diagnosis... and later..if needed ..a bipsy...may further confirm it...

Whatever it is..the general rule is...
any change in breast...any age..better surgical consultation..
and also..after age of 35-40..,
get a mammogram done once in a year..!

Take it as serious..ultil proved otherwise..

After all, why take the risk..right ?

best wishes..

can be cancer but doesn't have to. it could just be swelling of the milk glands due to growth. so nothing abnormal if they don't have a reddish color and/ or are painful.
