I don't know about yours specifically, but most PS2s will only play DVDs from the region in which they were bought, pretty much the same as games...

for example a UK ps2 will only play European games, and region 2 (i think we are 2...) dvd's, it would not play Japanese or American videos or games.

No. Most Playstions are locked the their region. You can buy some software cheap from Amazon called DVD Region X, which will let you play any region DVD's

no, it only plays region 1 NTSC
