The Medici were certainly a very famous family of bankers in Renaissance Florence but this is very simplified. They were also patrons of the arts and comissioned famous works by artisits such as Sandro Botticelli and Lippi. They were also patrons of science. Gallileo was a Medici favourite. Lorenzo de Medici also aided the movement to introduce the printing press throughout Europe.
Hope this helps a little.

I think your teacher wants you to answer A.
Banking was created by thr Knights Templar.
A more general question could be phrased 'The Medici family of Venice was infamous for?'. This highly interesting family (akin to the French Borgias) led to Florence (the whole city) being the most excommunicated place ever, whilst ironically also supplying several Popes! They enjoyed all that was good in life, fine food, fine architecture, great art, and also enjoyed killing people by a whole raft of methods, often being killed by their own relatives, and by the Florentine people. They were a contradiction on a scale never bettered.

Hi Linda
The answer is probably "C", but this is really superficial. It looks like the review for an examination from a junior high history textbook.
The Medicis did so much - probably the single most influential group of people in the Renaissance era.
Good luck with your test.

Of the four choices given, I'd say the closest is C, but they were so much more than just bankers.
Their wealth led them to political power as well, and their patronage of the arts is a byword, especially that of Lorenzo di Medici (aka "Lorenzo the Magnificent").

E. Spreading the renaissance to the rest of Europe. Catherine DeMedici married a French King and brought the renaissance to France, including knife and folk so the royalty no longer ate with their hands and started to show some class.
