In the past, people believed you want to a place call purgatory when you died, a place between heaven and hell where your sins were gone over and punished and were they decided what to do with you next (ie did you then go upstairs or downstairs!) It became taboo to walk on graves for this reason, it was believed you upset this process and committed a sin in so doing.
You were believed also to disturb the person below and unsettled them. The phrase came out of these beliefs to mean anything which unsetlles or disturbs you in a way or by a force you find hard to describe but which feels powerful nonetheless.

I’m not sure my mate seems to have this all the time and every time I visit her “her friend” as I call it gives me the chill down the spine so every now and then I have to text her to tell her, her friend is at my house so come and collect it. But she don’t want it either, but it always go’s home to her thankfully!
