Go for one of the Sandisk 'Sansa' players.

Although they have very little memory 'on board' they support the very largest SD cards ( Sandisk make the cards themselves ) up to 8gb.

Its not a hard disk player therefore you can go jogging with it, without worrying about disk damage & as SD cards increase in capacity ( I read that a 30gb one is on the way ! ) these players will be more future proof than many.

Their latest 'Sansa' E200 design rivals the iPod Nano for looks & design. Brilliant little player at a decent price that plays movies on its colour screen as well.

I bought a 1gb Iriver, nice screen, nice sound, better then the ipod, and cheapish

I like it a lot, I bought the flash rom becasue I run with it and I read the HD can break down on you
