I do not think you can take those instances and compare them for happiness because happiness is subjective and varies by individual. All can be equally happy. circumstances around a person or individual mindset sort of dictate what makes one happy. A happy person is one who is content with whatever life they have and is content with the skin they are in.

I have travelled all over the world and now live in the Philippines where 20 million people go to bed hungry each night. You can walk any street at night and hear the wailing of hungry children. Do you think they are happy ? Do you think there mothers are happy ?

They could all be equally happy. Happiness doesn't come with a price tag. It comes from the way you look out into the world. It comes from a good feeling within. From being satisfied with your self and your life.
