Monte Carlo is the "Quartier" of Monaco ville where the casino is located.
It covers about half of the total surface belonging to the Principality of Monaco, which has a total area of 1.95 square miles.
Monaco is a french protectorate, governed by a sovereign prince: Prince Rainier III reigned from 1949 until last year. He died. April 5th, 2005, his succesor is his son Prince Albert II. The family name is Grimaldi.
