C. Bushido.
Bushido meaning "way of the warrior," is a Japanese code of conduct and a way of life, loosely analogous to the European concept of chivalry. Bushido developed between the 11th to 14th centuries as set forth by numerous translated documents dating from the 12th to 16th centuries, and persisted until the late 19th century, when it was largely replaced by westernised military systems. Although traces of tradition Bushido were still used in the modern army until the end of WWII, and some elements persevere in modern Japanese etiquette.

The answer is Bushido (C). Its tenets were considered so important that if one violated them for any reason, the violator was expected to commit suicide in order to atone for the dishonor.
