The first two answers are wrong. The Uighurs are a non-Chinese people living in Sinjiang province in the NW of China. There are 10m of them, 90% of whom are in their homeland. They are one of the many "national minorities" in the less-densely populated parts of China.

The Uighur language is of the Turkic family and is very closely related to Uzbek.
