You don't necessarily have to lose weight. You probably just need to do some workouts to imporve your vertical jump. I used ankle weights which helped a bit, but wearing them too much can hinder your growth. What I do is touch the rim about 5-10 times every time I'm playing. I've dunked the ball a few times and I'm only 5' and 3/4". But to answer your question, no you don't have to really lose a bunch of weight. Just work you calf muscles and find some easy workouts online. Hope you can touch the backboard pretty soon!

If you want to jump higher, you can improve by doing vertical jump drills. Practise jumping to touch a high mark on the wall or better yet, a hard spot to reach on a basketball board, whether it is the net or the hoop. Also, try repetitions of squat jumps. -(bending down for a squat and then exploding up into the air) this will strengthen your muscles and make the fibres expand quicker and your leg muscles will become more springy and stronger. Also, you will need to do sit-ups to help your strength and also jump rope.

No, it just depends on the muscles in your legs. You can increase that by doing several thing. Jumping rope helps especially if you do it with ankle weights on. The next best thing is jumpsoles, they helped my friend do the VC dunk and I've tried them and have seen significant increases in my jump heighth
