Yes because combat will effect a person for the rest of their life, the nightmare of killing, being shot at, seeing first hand why war is hell changes a person.

I'm a combat veteran and I say no. Who's going to pay for this pension? If you're a disabled veteran, that's different. You should be entitled to something for your disability. As it is, veterans receive extra credit on civil service tests and additional help on home mortgages. If someone had the fortitude to stand up and volunteer to fight for the Country, they have the fortitude to get out of the house and earn a living.

Thank you guys who said yes, but as a veteran with two tours in Iraq under the 1st Armored Division 2nd Brigade Combat team 1st Battalion of the 6th Infantry Regiment, I will tell you that the very simple fact of contributing to the blanket of freedom that we get to sleep under every night, and knowing that the world is a little safer for my daughter Emma, is more than enough for me. But thank you guys for your support, it makes the long days and and nightmares worth it. Thank you again and again, you have made my day.

No. Only those who served time long enough to earn a pension, usually 20 years. The military receive combat pay in addition to their base pay, so they are compensated already.

Anyone who is put in harm's way for the sake of his or her country should be provided with a post combat allowance thereby dignified and recognised for their service.

Only those who have been seriously injured in combat to a point where they can no longer fight.
It's a volunteer military and those who volunteer know they will go to war...thats what the military is about.
