Yahoo Home Page has a feature for CHAT... login thru that and chat on Java for yahoo chat... instead of dloading.

Yes. If Javascript isn't disabled (it usually isn't), you can use Yahoo's Web Messenger. To get to the Web Messenger, go to:
http://messenger.yahoo.com/
At the bottom of that page, under the second to last line of links, there's a link that says "Launch Web Messenger".
