Cut the top of a plastic soda/ water bottle off 2 - 3 inches below the neck. Mix strawberry jam and water and pour in bottom of the plastic bottle. Invert the top and staple or tape to the bottom of the plastic bottle. (Neck of top down inside the bottom.) Bugs go in, but because of their tiny little insectile minds they can't figure out how to get out of the home made trap.
Oh, don't eat the amanita muscaria, it is mildly poisonous and hallucenogenic.

These are all inhumane, try buying a humane trap from a garden centre. Of make a box with some holes in put a sugar cube in it, when you have caught the flies let them go.

venus fly traps work well, i love them. but you must know that they do require a little attention everynow and then. also they are pretty cheap. and will probly fit in your jar, just be sure to put some soil in it first.

Honestly , if you can find some "aminita Muscaria " The yellow or red mushroom that grows this time of year , the flys cannot resist it.
