No. There are different ways to understand this. First, it cannot always be free. I think what the question means though is whether it should always be free for the consumer.

Now if the consumer wants more done than the government pays, he wouldn't be able to get it (at least not often) unless he were permitted to pay for it. However, maybe the question isn't intended to disallow private payment.

If medical treatment were pretty much always free, medications would probably be even more overprescribed than they already are. There would be disputes over whether the government should pay for treatment (is it really necessary?) Lots of old bored people would go to the doctor's office without cause because it costs nothing. Finally the government would spend an enormous amount and care would probably be worse because government plans are often complex and collecting money from the government would be an expense for the doctor's office.

Hi Dear..

It is Impossible as Govt. cant withstand all the Hospital expenses of every Citizen. and other thing, Govt. Hospitals give free medical check ups/diagnosis but cant provide whole the necesery Drugs.. they provide only 5-10 types of basic medicines. In Govt. Hospitals, Govt pays stafffs(Docs n Para medics). But How many docs can be Govt.Medical Practitioners...? Only a few.. Then the else works in Private/Public sector/Trust Hospitals or Clinics. Shouldn't they get paid...? As Govt cant provide whole Supplies, equipents, Infrastructure, Medicines, Man Power, Super speciality etc to manage a countries patients, Private teams manages tht task n they charges 4 each too...

I live in India. Here Medical course(MBBS) demands a 2.5 million Rupees as Donation. Fees comes around another 2-2.5 million... For taking Specialisations after MBBS, It costs another 2-3 million!!! So Imagine.. How can a Specialist work without getting a High pay after spending these 8million Rupees... So such Doc need 2 get paid atleast 2-3 Lakhs per month... They R not going to serve the country/people... Why they Invest this 5-8 Million? B'coz They R sure that they can regain it with interest...

Compare UR Qustion with these facts... I hop U can get the answer..

Thats a reason why Medical Treatment is a lil expenssive now a days... Only thing we can do is 'Take Insurance'

Live Healthy, Let live...
Regards...

I think it should be free, or at least cheaper. The country spends a lot of money, on things that seem less important than healthy citizens.
