I have a letter which is written in black ink. Unfortunately the letter got wet in the rain and the ink has washed away. There are a few faint marks remaining. Is there any way I can make the marks darker to let me read the letter?

sorry,no idea.

I think you should call up the person who has sent you the letter and ask him\her to tell what he\she has written.

The only thing i can think of is the way i used to read my letters home from school without opening them. hold it in front of a lightbulb and the light behind will make the papper kinda see thru and the marks will appear more visable

It depends on the type of ink and the type of paper, and how much ink remains, but you could try looking at it with an ultra-violet light, you can buy then in places like Maplins quitr cheaply. Or ask in your friendly local corner shop they will have one for checking £20 and £50 notes.

You beat me to it, Polon T. That was what I was going to suggest. The only thing with photocopiers, they sometimes darken the background as well. Try scanning it into your computer and using the highest contrast setting going. If neceassary, print it out and rescan it two or three times. You never know. It might work.

You could try photocopying the page and using the darkest copying setting. This will normally pick up most of the faint marks.

let the letter thoroughly dry, maybe with a hair dryer, sometimesthe marks left will darken al ittle, depends on the type of pen . Since we don't have that info, I don't know for sure.
