Antiviral. (free)

AVG free. Excellent protection available from: http://www.Grisoft.com

Don't use two antiviral products together as they may be incompatible. If your Antiviral trial has run out, then remove product from your computer and get the AVG installed.

Listed programs have been carefully tested by the 2-spyware.com research center and successfully passed our strict tests. This means that all of them can quite precisely recognize a particular pest, completely disable it by terminating its processes, deleting its essential files, registry entries and other related objects and eventually clean the infected system ensuring that no unsolicited programs will stay and attempt to violate your privacy and harm your computer.

All the products in Anti-Spyware category really work, do not deceive the user by producing false positives and cannot damage a compromised computer while eliminating found malware. However, it is important to know that not all of them are recommended for daily use. Each spyware remover in the list comes with a review describing its positive sides, drawbacks and impression it left. Such review also includes program screenshots, information about its price, implemented features, performance and general effectiveness. We rate tested programs by giving marks from 1 to 100. The higher mark a spyware remover gets the more effective it is. Please carefully read each review, pay attention to the rating mark a program got and read comments published by other visitors. This will help you to make a wise choice and compare your current anti-spyware program with other modern solutions on the market.

If you cannot find a particular spyware remover in anti-spyware category, take a look on the category of corrupt tools. Here is a package. If you want full security you should go for all of these. I am assuming that you are familiar with the functioning of antivirus, antispyware and firewalls.

ANTIVIRUS:
AVG:http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg71free_405a791.exe

ANTISPYWARE:
Spyware Terminator: http://www.spywareterminator.com/
SpyBot Search and Destroy:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spybot_Search_and_Destroy/1043809773/1
AdAware SE:- http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

FIREWALL:
ZoneAlarm: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en

1 antispyware is not enough; so you should have all the three. You say that you have got Trojans. So first of all download all these, then check for any updates and run a full system scan, first with AVG, then with each of the antispyware individually. Ur PC will be cleam within half an hour! The firewall has got nothing to do with these; it will only block hackers from accessing your system. And also scan ur computer with antispyware every 2 days(daily is recommended) and with AVG every week.

PS: Spyware terminator has an enmbedded antivirus(Clam AV). DON'T activate it bcuz it will obstruct the working of AVG. Also remove Norton completely before downloading AVG.

Good Luck! I answered a bit late; so I am not getting the best answer reward. still i hope this helps.

Oh yes, I forgot! all these are free!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry you paid for that junk. Why are you now only interested in a free package? I think some of the ones that cost money might be fine. I have AntiVir and it's free but I don't know how good it is against Trojans.

A good firewall (not default windows firewall) like zonealarm free version will prevent trojans contacting internet. ZoneAlarm's paid version (Zonealarm security suite) is extremely good. As for free antivirus package i suggest AVG or AVAST. Make sure u only have one antivirus in your system. Again u need antispyware programs such as Spybot - Search and Destroy ( http://www.safer-networking.org ) and Lavasoft's AdAware SE ( http://www.lavasoft.de ) both are free and good. Having 2-3 antispywares are good (unlike antivirus softwares).

I don't know about free antiviruses. I'm using Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 9.0. It's cheaper than Norton Antivirus and quite suits me.
After all you can try it on acronis site: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/privacyexpert/
