I doubt you'll get a personal loan with bad credit as they don't require any collateral against the loan and you'll pay out the butt for the interest on it.
We have very good credit and the interest rate would've been a little over 10%. Needless to say, we didn't get the loan for that reason.

No bank will give you a personal loan because there is no collateral. If you are really desperate, go to PayDay loans, or take an advance against your credit card. Neither of these are good ideas because of the high interest rates but if you have no other choice, then it's like picking the best of the worst.

That is bull crap.
Yes, bad things do happen to good people.
But some people with 490 and lower FICO do, in fact, have BAD credit. It is what it is!
I mean some folks' credit looks as ugly as Wanda on "In Living Color".
Now that is ugly!!!
You can find a personal loan out there with bad credit. Only problem is that the creditor is going charge you interest so high that the likelihood of default is pretty inevitable.
Think about what you are asking,
"I AM NOT CREDITWORTHY. Can you please spare a brother a dime."
And any creditor who has any bit of sense is going to tell you, "Hell to the nawl!".
Most creditors will have to ask, "Exactly how do I benefit from this transaction when you have no meaningful asset(s) to collateralize the loan?"
Good luck in your search, but asking for credit with bad credit, is like asking for a college degree when you are illiterate. Sure, it is remotely possible, but not worth the effort.

Try CashCall.com. I have a year old bankruptcy and have been building my credit up since then. I received a $5K loan from them in June. My scores were in the low 600's.

It depends on what country you are in. Look for small finance companies or do a search on Google for "bad credit loans". I got the ones below when I did a search.
