If the first pair begin breeding in march and are capeable of a litter averaging 5, of which two are female,every month through to the end of september and each successive female of each litter reaches maturity and begins breeding at 4 months of age what will be the total number of offspring in one season, allowing for a 50% mortality rate on each litter. Only three days after producing a litter a rabbit can be pregnant again.

Fractionally less females than males are present in a litter so two females out of the litter of five is a fair calculation.
