Oh and then I told him that I wasn't, and he was like "oh," so I don't think he meant it but...

I think you dealt with it fairly well.
If he bothers you about it again, speak to your parents,
a councillor, or law enforcement... if none of these
seem like safe/plausable options, seek someone who
you feel you can tell and will help you.
If he doesn't give you grief about it, then ignore it.
No point in creating real conflict where only misunderstanding currently lies.

Well, if it'd happened when I was in school, I'd probably have been embarrassed, blustered, denied it and tried to escape the conversation. But I'm older and more confident now, so if it were to happen now, I'd probably answer something along the lines of ,'Why, is there a law against it?' I hate when society shows it's a**. And that kinda of question is a prime example of society baring it.
Go ahead and express yourself. :)

Sue him under the discrimination act. Or if you live in England you could try calling it an infringement of your Human Rights.
And ask him why he has the need to ask discriminatory questions.

Report him. Tell others about him. Tell anybody -- just as long as you do something about it.
