7Oct Updates: Thanks all. From all your answers, I guess it means minority ethnicity, or something close to that.

To Lani, saw this from Steve Martin movie "The lonely Guy", in the film, one landlady sort of ask him a question like: do you have any dogs, cats, children, or friends of ethnic extraction? To which he answers: No dogs, no cats, no children, no foreign friends.

So I guess ethnic extraction friends can means minority race friends? :)

your extraction is like where you came from. if your ancestors or progenitors were from Scotland then you are of Scottish extraction. if they were from Vietnam you are of Vietnamese extraction.
I suppose if someone says someone is of ethnic extraction, he or she is saying that person is somehow of a minority ethnicity, but I don't really think that's a correct usage of the term, since everybody in the world is of one kind of ethnic extraction or another, minority or not. you have to be specific about what kind of extraction it is.

I THINK YOU MEAN Ethnic cleansing.

[E]thnic cleansing [...] defies easy definition. At one end it is virtually indistinguishable from forced emigration and population exchange while at the other it merges with deportation and genocide. At the most general level, however, ethnic cleansing can be understood as the expulsion of an "undesirable" population from a given territory due to religious or ethnic discrimination, political, strategic or ideological considerations, or a combination of these.[2]

[E]thnic cleansing is a well-defined policy of a particular group of persons to systematically eliminate another group from a given territory on the basis of religious, ethnic or national origin. Such a policy involves violence and is very often connected with military operations. It is to be achieved by all possible means, from discrimination to extermination, and entails violations of human rights and international humanitarian law."[3]

In this context, the person is asking if you have friends who are members of minority ethnic groups. This way of using it is weird to me, because they are using the word "ethnic" to mean minority, as if the majority doesn't have ethnicity...

Wow, I've never heard this -- where are you from?

Here in the US someone may ask what your "ethnicity" is or your "cultural background" or your "heritage," but I've never heard of "ethnic extraction."

Thanks for enlightening me.
