There is a myth about using White wine to remove red wine stains. This has been scientifically disproven - it just dilutes the red wine and makes it go a bit further.
I would hire a carpert cleaner and do the whole carpet - Rug Doctor I think they are called

On an old red wine stain, get some sodium bicarbonate, put it over the stain as a thick coating of powder, dampen it and leave it overnight. It should lift the stain, if it doesn't do it again the next night. Once the stain is lifted shampoo the whole carpet but be careful with the water temperature as it's a wool carpet. Then get a big stain proof rug for putting down on the "drinking circle" for party nights, to try and prevent it ever happening again! Good Luck!

Try a good detergent fully dissolved in cold water, Like Tide, with a strong mixture,, completely soak the area for about 2 hours, don't let it dry, then vac it up with a small rug cleaner, and try it again and again. Don't use hot water from a rug cleaner as this may set the stain. Maybe on the very last pass you can use warm water. you have to let it dry completely to see the full results

When you do get the varnish and wine out, it's a good idea to use only clear liquids to avoid the same problem occurring again in future. I know people with light-colored carpeting who only serve white wine, vodka, gin, etc. for this reason.

Dry clean maybe? I really don't know so I can't make any useful suggestions but I totally sympathise with you because sth like that happened to me some time ago-I spilt hot coffee on my favourite plus expensive books-and I completely understand how you feel. Unfortunately, accidents happen and even our most beloved things cannot escape that.

drama! I am sorry for you. salt immediately to soak it up, then soda water - loads of it and huge wads of paper towel, keep puring it on and drying it up. Then professional carpet cleaning help
as you have already dealt witht he stain using chemicals now get professional help. Or, do you have contents insurance? You might be able to get it replaced if nothing else can be done. Don't use anyhting else. it will be unpredictable on top of vanish residue. Don't use vinegar, it will rot and stink

Try spilling white wine on top of the stain - its supposed to get the stain out but I think you are supposed to do it straight away.
