Ok. I am a motorcyclist and in my state it is law for you to wear a helmet (NC), and i for one would not dare ride mine without one. I also aggree so much with helmets that i only use full faced helmets (to protect my face should something happen). However you must also realize that on a motorcycle going high speeds a helmet really wouldnt help much (it even says that in my motorcyclists handbook i got from the DMV to study for my tests). So even though i wouldnt ride without one i must admit that at 55 or 70mph my head would probly be well protected but hey when thats all thats left of me whats the point? Anyhow most motorcyclists do complain that certain helmets ristrict their periphiral vision and while i do not find this the case i can honestly see where some peaple might find this to be a problem, and if they wore the half helmets (which have no face guard, and would in no way impair your vision) i personaly dont think that little amount of protection would really help much in an accident.

Hope this veiwpoint from a cyclist helps you a little.

Helment laws have been passed and repealed in many states.
I think the seat belt laws should be repealed.

All those opposing can move to CA.
Once they get there, we'll NUKE the San Andreas Fault and let CA float out into the ocean to become the Peoples Republic of California.
I hear Hilary wants to be President...

They tried the BS helmet laws years ago! Motorcycle lobbiests called them on what they were BS.
BTW Seatbelts dont save lives in people over 15, actually they increase your risk of injury
Why the laws.......MONEY.

i don't know about over where you are at, but here in louisiana we used to have a law like that, where you had to have so much insurance and you didn't have to wear a helmet, but since so many accidents related in death they have since made it where no matter how much insurance you have you must wear a helmet.

Insurance companies make the laws. So whatever avenue makes them lose most money is the avenue they will pursue to pass laws in.
less motorcyclists = less insurance drainage
