First of all you don't want it to get stuck behind the head because that could cause a condition called paraphimosis and if severe enough, an emergency circumcision may be needed. If it's difficult to retract the foreskin then don't, washing the outside of the penis is good enough for a while.
In the meantime try some stretching exercises. There are many variations. One is to take two fingers and stretch the opening of the foreskin as far as it'll go without pain (like increasing its radius) by hooking a finger on either side of the foreskin. Do this for a few minutes each day and after a few weeks it should be resolved. When you can retract your foreskin without much difficulty, then you can worry about washing under it (which is important but comes second in priority here). Also a lot of it is simply to just move the foreskin around more to loosen it up over time. If this doesn't work there are prescription creams that're supposed to help. If that doesn't work there are still many other alternatives before circumcision should be considered. Disregard any opinions of a circumcision outright as that's probably not a good first, second, or third choice.

This is Phimosis. You are not alone with this either.

These links are a good place to start.
I to suffer from Phimosis. I cannot pull my foreskin back erect or placcid. Please be care when the foresking goes behind the head because it could be stuck and cause damage. I did this once when placcid and I had real difficulty putting it back.
Look into streching... as this is something I am doing and slowly I am getting results. Those links above gives you the lowdown.
Cicumsition (getting it cut) is NOT the answer!!! Look at the alternatives first (like strecthing and steroid creams)
I refuse to get mine cut, because having a foreskin does have advantages than people think. Also, you should state your age... but those links will give you the main stuff.
I hope this helps and good luck!!

I had a very tight foreskin, and used to have the same problems when having sex.8 years ago,it happened once again, only this time it wouldn't go back.Spent the whole of the next morning trying to sort it.So, as it was getting tighter and tighter, my then girlfriend made me go to the docs, and i ended up getting circumsised.I can laugh about it now,but by god was it sore and uncomfortable at the time!

Circumcision is a option, but playing with it and stretching it yourself is another. There are loads of resources on the web that can help you. Many of these sites even show how to grow a foreskin back so I am sure that you will find them useful.

Well, many guys have it, and it's just the matter of moving it more to get more elastic. I read about it already. It will be hurting a lot (even to the point of skin snapping- nothing medicaly serious but painful!) but couple of times you do it will go easier and easier and they say that feeling is even better when you have sex. So try it :) But be careful!

try manipulating the foreskin when in a warm bath... my son has the same problem although is very young. i'm loathed to have him circ'ed as this can cause more problems than it solves, so have been gently moving it when the skin is soft and warm ( hence the bath advice). go to your g.p for advice re streching the foreskin, in the mean time get handling it!

You will also find it stretches and becomes loose with age, i've never fancied getting mine chopped off, it's a personal thing.
I have the same problem as you when i was a child/teen but it's fine now.
Must be all that work i've given it over the years.lol

well, maybe it is best to see the doctor to see if there is any solutions available for the tight foreskin on your penis. Perhaps circumcise is another method that can help you avoid such problems but its best to have a discussion with the doctor to see if there is other solutions.

Has it always been like that? I'd get circumcised if I were you, it sounds quite painful. If it's only recently, you must have some kind of infection but surely that would hurt. Hmmmm. It's not that unusual to have an over tight foreskin - sometimes they just split and come off. I'd get it removed if I were you.
