A major roadblock in gays and lesbians getting the right to marry is the implication that they'll be granted full rights to raise children, but a great deal of people who are against gay marraige (who are wise enough to exclude religious implications, since no one cares about what God thinks anymore these days) are afraid that gays who raise children will raise them homosexual.
Has anyone yet thought of conducting an experiment where exceptionally young foster children are given into custody of gay, lesbian, and straight parents and their behavior and development is carefully monitored over the course of their lives? It's already upsetting to enough people that gays come out of straight homes, but don't we need to carefully study which household brings about which sexuality? If the results of the experiment follow no recognizable pattern, then it would be proven that sexuality of the children is NOT a result of the sexuality of the parents, and gays could be allowed to have kids.

Technically speaking, this would not be an experiment, because there would be no randomization of children and parents, no control groups, and the findings of causation would be open to great question without controlling for other variables. However, sociological studies are being conducted. The results so far are as you predicted, that there is no significant correlation between the sexual orientation of the parents and the later sexual orientation of the children.
There is homophobia implied in these studies, however. Their very premise suggests that raising a child in an environment that is more likely to lead to homosexuality is a negative thing. A non-homophobic viewpoint would state that the eventual sexual orientation of the child is immaterial because there is no greater value assigned to either heterosexuality or homosexuality.

In fact that experiment is being conducted. Gay couples are raising children. This is one of the reasons (despite what you may think about homosexuality) there needs to be some type of legal recognition for the relationship--whether people like it or not. This can be called a civil union if people prefer that to marriage--we love to play word games these days--but all a marriage really legally and civilly is, is a civil union--the marriage part is the religious thing.
Anyway--the evidence is that children raised by gay couples are no more likely to become gay than children raised by straight couples.

I don't think you'll find a foster or adoption agency anywhere in the country that would be willing to give a child to ANY couple (nevermind a gay couple) for anything that may be regarded as an "experiment".

Wel ok. I say its been proven already. 1stly if a child raised by gay parents turned out gay, it wouldve been splashed all over the news by now.
And 2ndly most gay people were brought up in str8 enviroments, so then if it works that way, then there wouldnt be gay people 2 begin with.
So ur sexuality is determined wen ur born. Nothing can change that (although they can hide it).
