if you can settle the bill in full with the other driver fine good on you but make sure you get a receipt that you paid for the damage or you could find your self in court for the same accident if the other driver is unscrupulous and gets there insurance company to act on a claim from them .but get the other driver to provide you with a bill headed estimate for the damage so you know exactly what your paying for . but bear in mind if this in minimal damage caused by you that repair may never be fixed by the other driver . he may just take your cash and spend it his own doing though not yours you ll have a receipt for your cash and there can be no come backs if that's a witnessed receipt

If it meant losing my No Claims discount and the damage didn't look too expensive, I would offer to pay. It's up to the other party, really, whether they want to go through insurance or not - you couldn't force them not to.

I pay for No Claims protection, though, so if it was the first accident I'd had in a while, I wouldn't lose my No Claims.

That depends on the extent of the damage. My wife backed into a car at her work and we decided to pay the person $500 rather than turn it in to our insurance company. Generally insurance is there to protect you from having a big loss.

Depends on yr excess, how many yrs no claims you have ( haven't you got protected no claims?) , how much the repairs cost and how regular you have bumps!. My wife recently knocked her wing mirror off and it cost £235.00 for a new one, her excess is £200.00 but her no claims are protected. We decided to pay this ourselves as you are only allowed 2 accidents in 3 yrs for protected no claims and for the small difference in cash, didn't want to take the risk ( also even if you have protected no claims and make a claim - your insurance premium will go up next year) - hope this helps.

I have protected no claims, even small accidents cost a bomb because of the way modern cars are built.

If you are talking £100 pay up thats nothing.

That depends on the costs involved. If it's only a nominal cost - there just pay up

Depends how much it was going to cost. I would probably pay up if I could afford it.

£100? pay it! it will probably save you hundreds in the long run.
