It need only be something with a connection with paper. It's sweet of you to even put this much thought into remembering it. Why not buy some beautiful stationery and write her a poem...it really doesn't matter how good / bad you feel you are as a writer, your wife will be genuinely touched and she will keep it forever. You could make it humourous or romantic but she will absolutely love it...as an extra you might want to put some paper money inside it as a token gift for her to treat herself to something nice, or you could include an invitation for her to join you for a nice meal at a nice restaurant, at home, or even to eat fish n chips out of newspaper ( keeping the 'paper' theme going!) from your local chippy!! Either way, Happy 1st Anniversary to you both! xoxo

Paper is the tradition first anniversary gift.
My husband gave me two tickets to a theme park near us, and we had a lot of fun that weekend :-)

Some other "paper' gifts.
Books - if there is a new book out by one of her favorite authors, then this is an easy gift.
Board games - whether it's a sexy game or a traditional one, board games are a fun way to spend time together.
Playing Cards - Again, they can be sexual in nature or normal.
Puzzles - but only if she enjoys them.
Stationary - personalized stationary, if she doesn't have any, might be a way to show that you want the world to know that she married you.
A Painting/Poster/Picture - A nice piece to hang on the wall that you think will mean something to her.
Couple's Coupons - make them yourself for things like a foot rub, breakfast in bed, a massage, a night out, etc...
If you have any writing talent, a love letter or romantic poem is something she would treasure forever.
Since it's close to the end of the year, maybe a calender that she would like.

If you can't find an idea that you like for paper, then get her the modern gift - a clock. It can be silly or elegant, as long as you think she'll like it.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines while you're actually not as solid on the laptop, and it will provide it a house made feeling.

I think you mean to say, 'something proper'.Well you can gift her with what she likes, if she does not have an allergy with perfumes, then perfumes work best.Or you can gift her with something she has been wanting since a long time.Believe me,she will actually love you more and more every time she sees that thing. Also with anything give her a bouquet of flowers.

Buy her a first edition of a book she really likes. This is so romantic.
Or you could buy a packet of rizlers and hide an eternity ring inside(this also signifies the first year of marriage)

A photo album, so she can make a sentimental journey down your first year of married life together? Or theatre tickets? Or diamonds! (I know they're not paper, but it's what I'd want!)

If you buy her something made out of paper your marriage may not last very long - how about a very fancy fountain pen?

A painting of your wedding portrait?
A cheque?
A premium bond?
A gift voucher?
Or a letter promising a romantic weekend?
