Then take those figures into some other places and simply ask if they can better the deal - eventually, you'll find a place which is offering you a decent price. Also, note that banks like buying sterling because it helps their own counter liquidity, so you should be able to do well. Good luck.

I had this probelm about a month ago, I looked at several different bureau de change and travel agencies (in london and surroundings), and found that the Post office offered the best deal.
For £2,500 you may have to order in advance - especially at a 'smaller' PO
