Because humans didn't evolve from Apes, Adam was the first human on Earth, and was not an ape.

Humans did not evolve from present-day apes. Rather, humans and apes share a common ancestor that gave rise to both. This common ancestor, although not identical to modern apes, was almost certainly more apelike than humanlike in appearance and behavior. At some point -- scientists estimate that between 5 and 8 million years ago -- this species diverged into two distinct lineages, one of which were the hominids, or humanlike species, and the other ultimately evolved into the African great ape species living today.

Apes are classified into two – Great Apes and Lesser Apes. Gorillas, Chimpanzees and Orangutans are part of the Great Apes classification. Lesser apes include Gibbons. The divergence of the Great Apes from the Lesser Apes is thought to have occurred 11 to 16 million years ago. Man is supposed to have subsequently evolved from one of the Great Apes. Even today, scientifically, Man is classified in the Hominoid family as one among the four Great Ape genera, the other three being Pan (Chimpanzees), Gorilla and Pongo (Orangutans).

There are, as always, other theories too - a Jewish folktale claims that one of the races who built the Tower of Babel became apes as punishment, while Muslim lore says that the Jews of Elath became apes as punishment for fishing on the Sabbath. Christian folklore claims that apes are a symbol of lust and were created by Satan in response to God's creation of humans...

The very first living being evolved from a single cell & this cell further adapted itself to suite living condition at that time.Just as cats belong to feline famile line of Tigers and lion sameway humans and monkeys belong to homs sapiene family line.Thats why Apes & Monkeys are still here and will stay.

Because some just didn't qualify. There is this test one has to do to graduate from ape/monkey to human. Those who qualify go on to walk upright, work in offices in big shiny buildings and spend all day answering questions on the net. A few unworthy, semi-ape, not-fit-to-be-human, also manage to bribe their way through, stand for presidential elections, and win - twice. and then wage war on other similarly bribe-monied apes with WMD (that's ape talk for 'he's got more bananas')

Darwin's theory is faulty. If Darwin's concept is acceptable, the logical conclusion will be like this:
present man evolved from ape. The present ape evolved from goat. The present goat evolved from fish.
I feel that God created everything Himself and the present system is not due to evolution.

We did not evolve from apes... duh...

Apes and Humans both evolved from an earlier tye of primate, humans and apes then evolved sperately, which is why we are different....

Hi Teja,
Apes also nurture the same theory and have the same concern about them- the only difference is that the words "human" and "apes" are interchanged.
