That is a very good point. I've been thinking about this a bit. I guess that realistically one should hope to get at least 3 sensible answers whose content correspond with each other, that way the question asker is able to assume quite confidently that those answers are indeed correct and then ignore all others. Sometime the 'worst answers' are pretty funny and are worth having Merely for the comedy value (perhaps there should be a funniest answer category!)
All in all, Yahoo answers is fun, but one should never go away thinking that they have ever got the definitive answer to any thing, rather like wikipidia.

Oh dear, I hope I am not one of the self important ones you slur. I feel compelled to answer some questions because I believe I have a valuable opinion - yes I might even feel a little self important, that is the beauty of answers to me. I can let it all out, and know that you will have to at least skim past my answers. It can be annoying when people just flippantly write nonsense down to get their own 2 points worth, thankfully those people usually only write a couple of words. Not like me, I can rave on for ages......... I do tend to take more care with the questions I choose to answer and the answers I choose to give (then I did when I first started), because I just love that feeling I get when my answer is chosen as the best one!

I think the answers give a great representation on how life truly is. You see that not everyone is going to take you seriously in this world, and certainly not in this forum. Especially if they're just trying to get 2 points. But instead of being upset that you're getting only two answers, you should be happy that you're getting good answers. It also ensures that amongst the people out there who are being silly or immature, or even offensive, there are people out there who actually do care

Yes, there is a filter for stupid answers and also for stupid questions. It is called "ignore them"
Really, though, if the questions or answers are offensive, they can be reported.
If they are useless, it is because not all people have the same level of intelligence, and some have a weird sense of humor.

Is this a sensible question? You know full well that their is no way to filter out stupid, self-important answers to sensible questions. Since this question is not sensible because you already know the answer then i will give a stupid self-important answer: Press the escape button on the top right of your keyboard. this button will make the stupid, self-important answers go away.

By the way, all answers are self-important. If I didn't even value or like "my own" opinion, I will not answer your questions.
People who scream about other people's self-importance suffer from inferiority complex. Because "normal" people don't care what the other people are thinking.
And it's the self-important people who come up with solutions to problems not just on answers but also in life, because they believe in themselves and are not busy copying others.
All the idiots who call self-esteem bad are, well, stupid.

Yes, use the rating button.
Chances are one should have searched for similar answers from similar questions already asked many times; Or even have done the research on entirely sources before asking.

I agree with you but then I am also guilty of answering a few stupid questions with good answers, rough with the smooth ring any bells

yawns at yet another goon with little or no sense of humour. why should you only expect serious answers. you must be pretty "self important" to ask a question to the rest of the population, and assume that anyone is in the slightest bit interested.
