I went to a camp for several years as a kid, and really learned a lot there. Probbaly the best summers of my life. I always wanted to see if i could put a reunion of sorts together at it. Get as many friends as i can of old campers from those days. But most i dont even remember their names or where they live now. (most probably married).

Now i read of a program taking place inside the old camp where you stay in the cabins we stayed in all those years, and take part in activities. I am trying to go to it, and hope people are coming to i might have known.

Has anyone ever returned to a deal like that? its been nearly 20 years since my last summer there (1989). And I probably couldnt do half the stuff i did back then but It would be nice to return.

That sounds like a great idea.

As a matter of fact I returned to my old sleep away camp 2 years ago, some 30 years after I was a camper because I went to a funeral......my cousin LOVED camp and wanted her ashes to be spread there when she died. REAL STORY>>>I SWEAR.

Anyway, it was so weird to be back there and see people all grown up. Everything looked so small...even the forest but the trees were bigger. Even though it was a bittersweet occasion, it was something I will always remember.

Try calling the camp itself or going on one of those search for people websites. Chances are that someone will remember someone else's name who might remember another person's name, etc. GO FOR IT !!!

I've returned to a camp reunion. Actually, I've been to several. They were great. Remembering all the things that we used to do. The canoe trips, the swimming lessons in the freezing cold lake.Smores around the campfire and all those crazy songs. If you go to the program taking place at your old camp you maybe able to meet some of your old camper friends and together be able to put together a reunion. If nobody is their that you know then at least you can speak with the camp representative and possibly get some contacts. One possible way to attract old campers attention is to place an ad in the local newspaper asking former campers to contact you about a reunion or something like that. The camp I worked at kept a mailing list of all the campers so that may be a source of information.
Good Luck with your endeavor it is worth while,
