Well its not a biggie movie. But I saw Wolf Creek last year and it was excellent, also it was loosely based on a true story. Modern horror movies are rubbish. Psycho has to be all the time best I reckon, you cant beat a bit of Hitchcock!

Hostel.
it's not a horror movie per se tho, the movie's not that great. They are just using a lot of violence and gruesome scenes to shock people, but they're neglecting the actual script. Poo..

nicely, i've got not seen any of the observed video clips different than the 1st one. have you ever seen Hostel? there's a scene in that the place the final final backpacker chum is making an attempt to help get a woman out of that terrible place the place they torture human beings. Her one eyeball is already superb out of her eye (the guy that replace into torturing her used a power drill to end this). the baby attempting to help her knew he had to diminish the attention ball the the remainder of how off simply by fact it replace into in simple terms superb there so he grabbed some scissors and decrease it off the the remainder of how. It beginning oozing this nasy yellowish stuff. That replace into the grossest factor I quite have ever seen in a movie.

Hi
I think the meaning of horror depends for every one coz for some its the violence and bloody situations and may be for others its surprising twists. well check out these movies like EVILDEAD 1, Texas chain saw massacre, Friday the 13, SAW and Sleepaway camp 2: unhappy campers.... and the list is long. these are my best movies wich i love to see.
take care

For a classic older gruesome movie you have to go for "Cannibal ferox" (aka "Make them die slowly") -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082700/
From imdb -
"Quotes: Pre-credits disclaimer: The following feature is one of the most violent films ever made. There are at least two dozen scenes of barbaric torture and sadistic cruelty graphically shown. If the presentation of disgusting and repulsive subject matter upsets you, please do not view this film. "
Viewer review from imdb -
"Cannibal Ferox is a must see for fans of the genre, but casual viewers should take heed—this wasn't banned in 31 countries for nothing!"
For a newer movie it has to be Hostel -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450278/
as mentioned by a few previous answerers.

hostel, saw, house of 100 corpses and the devils rejects are all harsh, but as far as gruesome goes the messiest film has got to be ichi the killer by takashi miike. although an amazing film, it verges on being just plain wrong on many occaisions.
although many recent american films have been harsh, no one beats asian cinema for action and horror.
