This is a golden opportunity to actually "sell yourself". This is a general question. You can talk abt ur hobby, ur skills, in short, anything that will tee-up ur image as an individual.

POINTS to take note: DO NOT LIE ON THIS QUESTION

"Well, (insert name of interviewer), where shall I start? Most recently, I have spent my free time doing missionary work in the inner-city, building homes for low-income grandmothers and fostering orphaned kittens and puppies. Before that, I tinkered some with water purification and used my skills to improve well water in impoverished third world countries..... On a more personal note, I am a regular and active member of my church, a devoted family person, and I am eternally grateful to have a wonderful spouse who takes care of the kids and our home without ever expecting me to help out -- leaving me plenty of time to work extra hours at work. We recycle, mow our lawn with a push-mower to protect the environment, and feed the ducks in the pond every Saturday morning. In my free time, I take a few classes at the local university, and have recently completed my accounting degree, my MBA, my doctorate in education, and medical school."

That should impress them.

I never know what to say and end up saying stupid stuff...like I play the guitar. I've never picked up a guitar in my life. I hope someone answers this question with a good answer because I need to know too.

If you are being interviewed in the city/state, where you live, you can say:

I'm a native New Yorker. My hobbies are: (name your hobbies.) The most interesting thing about me: __________________.

You can come up with other "time-filler" statements.

Just brag about yourself...thats what they want, I think. Without sounding too conceited.
