So the only alternative to pure capitalism is communism?

2006-10-05 21:12:38 · update #1

So far everyone has clearly explained why they think capitalism is so great but nobody has explained to me yet why they love being a whore to corporate world fascist capitalism and how they have learned to live with lying to themselves and being a sellout loser...I'm just curious. It's an honest question.

Capitalism does not trample the poor; it employs them in better jobs than they would have otherwise and raises them out of poverty. The "exploits the poor" rhetoric is communist, and just plain lies.

Capitalism is a way to create wealth. You have some raw materials, you have some design plans, some people to put them together, and when you make a product, you are adding value to those raw materials. That's wealth. The salaries of those employees are also wealth, because like the rest of it, it flows into the economy and gets moved around.

Study of the fall of the Soviet empire demonstrates that communism is far, far less efficient than capitalism. If you want to do something, you either need to put money into it (capital) or you need to put force and coercion into it (communism). Which do you prefer?

Capitalism offers the freedom of wealth.
It is a sad world, and I cannot say capitalism is necessarily better than communism. There must have been a reason why some countries chose to become communists (mostly because they hated capitalism, and why? There were too many poor people and very few extremely wealthy people). Maybe they were pretty desperate to improve the lives of the majority of the population, but history tells that the revolution from capitalism to communism did no good in many cases.
Why trample on the poor? Do YOU want to be a poor person instead in a communist country? There must be tens of times more poor people in communist countries than in capitalist countries.

The problem with socialism and other societies is that everyone gets the same treatment regardless of how much effort they put in their work. The man who worked really hard to become an engineer (say) gets paid the same amount as the labourer.

This cuts two ways: the hard-working guy thinks why should I work so hard if it's never going to take me any places and the other guy who is poor thinks no matter how little I work, they will steal it from the hard working guy and give it to me.
As a consequence, all socialist societies fail after some time, because no one wants to give their best. This is not my opinion; it's Karl Marx, the guy who thought up socialism.
The benefit of socialism is that in the beginning it is motivating to know that the state treats you equally. But later, when people realize that nothing will ever get them more than what is already decided by the state, they stop working. Obviously, no one cares to work, if they know that all their extra effort will be of no benefit to them. And the ones who were poor, think that even if they never work, the other guys will work for them.

Capitalism works because everyone gets what they deserve for their calibre/hardwork/talent.

About the whore thing, if they've only paid you to be (say) a programmer; do what that requires; don't bother about the stuff they expect you to do; do what is mandatory. ;)

The idiot who does too much without being asked, looses big time in all societies.
