Mercedes Benz has always been the best in quality perrormance and engineering. After the 1996-1998 merger with the Chrysler Corporation ther quality droped slightly. this quality drop is the most notice able in the current generation E-class. even after this they are still better that the competition. BMW and Audi may have more electronics but MB will always be the best. they have always been 10 years ahead of everyone with their engine, chassis, and frame safety sturdyness and construction. Chose MB you wont be sorry. Just not the E-Class.

I owned an Audi as far back as 1967, nothing like now but a great car. I've owned several MB, brother owned several BMW's and pop owned current Audi's. Audi's are superior. Even Germans recommended them. Although other two are OK, in my experience BMW's love service. MB are great cars but tend to be fussy about service also. If you like working on your own cars forget MB and BMW for help. Pops Audi's seldom needed as much.

It depends of the model of the car in each brand. A mercedes 500SL would definitely be better than a BMW serie 3.

I would say that in term of comfort Mercedes is well above average. Note that Porsche (Boxster, Carrera), are much more comfortable than a BMW.

Except for the '57 BMW 527, I have never seen anybody driving proudly an old BMW, neither an Audi.

That's not the case with Mercedes Benz, is it?

Heads of state, the pope, they use MBZ, not Audi, not BMW.

There you go.

You can't say which one of them is best. It depends the model you'r talking about. However, you should know that the bmw is the fastest, the merc is confortable and the audi combines both at a lower price(that doesn't mean that it ain't that good). In my opinion. i'll preffer the bmw

AUDI, due to AWD and bullet proof engines. Audi was the only car to date to be thrown out of the races due to the AWD sophistication. Google it. If you are going to buy an Audi, Make it an A8 or and S8 if you have the cash. Who ever said Audi was a rebadged VW never drove and S8, and yes this was out far before the Phaeton!!

Modern Mercs have reliability issues. They are getting better though.
Modern BMWs are becoming too common as everyone wants one.
Modern Audis are becoming too expensive as they think they are BMW and Mercedes

Personally, I'd have either of them, but you missed off another couple of Germans from your list.

VW?
Porsche?

PS - cartier95 - that has to be the longest answer ever!
