Plain Jane comes from the Philadelphia area. She moved away some time ago. Funny. You must know her now and you wonder where she came from. We knew her before and wonder where she went.

....Calamity Jane was a woman ahead of her time; however, she had many unfortunate faults. She was an accomplished storyteller. In her own account, she has Captain Egan proclaim at Goose Creek, Wyoming,

“I name you Calamity Jane, heroine of the Plains!”

There is no evidence to support her account of receiving the nickname, and it is unlikely the real story will ever be known.

Don't know the answer, but plain Jane is a girl or woman who is ordinary, homely, or unsophisticated.
