Edible bananas grow only from suckers and not from seeds. If you have seeds for a banana it would only be an ornamental one. The little black dots you see inside an edible banana are what used to be the seeds before bananas were cultivated comercially.

bananas grow quickly and easily -- i have a yard full of them and they have to be cut and thinned all the time. oh im in florida so that helps. i never grew them from seed but imagine they are the same as from off-shoots -- just keep it in water and give it lots of sun and you will be in banana plants in no time.
