My daughter had same thing, I convinced her to go to the DR. after a month, she had a hair line fracture, they just put her ankle in a brace, but the DR. told her if she would not have come in, it might have broke, go to the DR. ASAP.

Any injury should be assessed on its severity, and the treatment varies in some ways. The RICE technique can be used on most musculoskeletal injuries: Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation. It would've been a good idea to go get an x-ray just to rule out a fracture. Some heal faster than others, you say that your bruising is basically gone, but the swelling and pain is still there. Did you rest it a while? Apply compression bandage? As for the pain, you can take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications to help with the pain and inflammation. Try putting it in a bucket full of ice and water, to help with the swelling, and when you sleep at night, put 2 pillows underneath your affected ankle to help the fluids circulate. If things don't get better in 2 more weeks, see a doctor, there might be something more.

I have had many over the years..mostly when young.. Never felt the need to go to any doctor for it.. knowing it was going to take as long as 6 months before all tenderness was going to go away. Have to consider the stretching of tendons and ligaments is quite painful. They are covered with a sheath and there is even swelling under the sheath.. Takes some time to recover.

Sounds like you need to go to your doctor. It maybe more then just a sprain. It could be broken and needs to be set to heal the right way. Forget what the property people are saying. You need to take care of your self first and then deal with them later. Maybe if you did sue them , or make them take notice, you can save some one else from falling or spraining their body parts..

Sprains sometimes take as long to heal as breaks. The problem is people try to get back to normal too soon. Stay off of it as much as possible, use heat if it's not swollen, ice if it is, and if it still hurts in a week or two you might want to see a doctor.
