Since your group includes children and senior citizens and total persons 10, it will be far better for you to hire a mini-bus. It will be very economical as well as very suitable for your time schedule.

You can hire a bus from Pathankot or Jammu or New Delhi or Amritsar. Pathankot is the nearest for all the places you have mentioned and I don't know from where you will start and end your journey. Please discuss the terms and conditions before you start and in clear cut terms. Many times I have travelled by private car on hire from Pathankot. A person- "Raj"- near bus stand was the only good driver and companion on long roads, as I have found out. But I don't know whether he will able to arrange a mini bus or tempo. Neverthless call him if you wish 9417328518. You can refer to my name (Nitin from Mumbai). But please judge for yourself and take decisions. And I also don't know whether recommending like this is proper in this forum.

From Pathankot, Dalhousie comes first. There are few spots in Dalhousie ( Subhash Baoli, Panch Pul and Market). You can visit Kalatop sanctuary from here (around 10 kms) and if weather permits visit Khajjiar- a spot very very beautiful and called as switzerland of India.

Chamba comes next. It's a 1000 year old town. Once a capital of a known Pahadi kingdom. Several temples (very ancient), Chaugan, River Ravi, Museum. A nice place to spend your time in.

Onwards, visit Dharamshala. A twin town of Mcleogunj, too. Lots of walks and tibetan temples et al in these twin town. Also the snow line is the nearest from this place in all of India. Allow your people to experience snow here, if you can't manage anywhere else.

Bon voyage.

As you are a group of 10 including senior citizens there is no air travel to these places.
If you need comfort travel by taxi-es they charge per day Rs.700=00
The time depends on your ability to travel in not so good roads and the distance is over 1000km (approximately) excluding any places of worth seeing sights which the taxi driver will tell.
You can land in Delhi and take a A/C Mini Bus.The expenses and other things will not differ much.It will be 150 USD per day and you need maximum 20 days to complete your visit.
