it could be a problem with their firewall, or something on the pc itself, best idea is to ping the router. and see if its getting a default gateway, u can do this by start-->run-->cmd-->ipconfig /all and this will give default gateway and ip address
ip address will proberly be 192.168.0.1 gateway should be the same
to do a ping test do ping 192.168.0.1 and should say sent 4 rece 4
hope this helps

There is a good probability that he is typing the incorrect key. Other places to look are:
1. Choose the appropriate security setting (WEP, WPA-PSK). Normally auto-detected, nevertheless verify.
2. If the wireless router is configured to act as DHCP server, then set your network card to automatically obtain IP Address and DNS Server settings (in TCP/IP Properties for the network card).
3. If the router is not configured for DHCP, then make sure you assign an IP address and subnet mask (typically IP=192.168.0.x, subnet=255.255.255.0) that puts him on the same network as others.
4. Do a ping test to verify your connection to the router is working (assuming that your router's IP is 192.168.1.1, at command prompt type, ping 192.168.1.1)
5. If ping to the router is working, then ping another computer on the network to verify that you are able to access other computers.
Note: To ping the address 192.168.1.1 from a computer with IP 192.168.0.x (x=1...254), set the netmask to 255.255.0.0
