Do any of you know what a 'gay icon' is?
You DON'T have to be gay to be a gay icon - most gay icons are straight women!
I am not trying to imply that Princess Diana was a lesbian, you dumb Americans!

I do. Versace, Elton John. Fashion Queen. And of course, her sad pitiable love life.....that all makes her a gay icon. Plus the cat fights with Elton John, Fergie, the Queen.

Diana was one of a very few personalities in the early days of HIV/AIDS to speak out in support of fighting the virus. however, I would not call her a gay icon.
I am gay and while I thought she was a very good person. I also thought she had quite a few flaws as a mother. Sure Charles was a dick too. I never understood the hubbub that her fans made about her poor kids never seeing their mom again. Yes it was tragic, but if she had been WITH her kids in England instead of running around with Dodi Fayed, she wouldnt have died. She was an absentee mother most of the time. Her kids were raised by nannies and governesses.

No, that would be to limit her appeal. She was, is and always will be an icon to everyone for the number of life's that she touched. God loves Princess Diana!

No. Biggest reason is that she was not an entertainer type. Gay icons seem to be drawn from the ranks of Entertainment.
