When we start thinking about the big bang theory, i'm curious if any great scientists have resorted to a belief in God after immense study and research around things like the big bang theory?

Darwin did not state that he believed in god before he died. Evolution has nothing to do with the existence of god anyway.

All of the scientists I know either do not believe in a god or believe in god as a matter of faith as that is the only way they can address this situation. You see science deals with natural things which does not include god. So you can believe in a supernatural god as it does not necessarily clash with your beliefs as a scientist because they are two separate things.

Einstein believed in God. He was also smart enough to just believe and not try to search for evidence since there is no independent way to gather such and belief is its own justification.

The Big Bang is not a proof or disproof either, but in the tennis match of cosmology it may offer the final ace, the Occam's razor desideratum: simplicity. If you say there's an ultimately unknowable origin, a causeless BIg Bang or a causeless God, rationality can move alone from the Big Bang, while God and rationality will vie forever.

There are lots of them. Not many believe the bible is an astronomy textbook, and accept the literal interpretation of Genesis, but the idea that Someone created this universe is hardly unusual!
And as far as the big bang theory, Genesis does provide the only existing answer of any kind to the question of what caused the big bang: "And God said 'Let there be light'".

I'm not sure, but it seems there was a show on the Discovery channel about this a couple of months ago.

The Big Bang requires belief. It can't be proved either.

Albert Einstein believed in God. I've seen him listed as a Deist somewhere, but he was probably more of a Freethinker.

Charles Darwin. Before he passed away, he acknowledged that his theory was just that a theory and that he believed in God.
