Also will the venue have microphones or should the bands bring these?

Never assume the venue has anything at all.
I know it's tough but maybe you should try to get a sound operator as part of your band.
They would set up the PA, help with the sound-check and mix your sound during peformance if there's a desk.
Venues that have an in-house PA can also be good as it's less loading of gear and more room in the van for mates!
But definitely check with the venue as to what equipment they have and if there's a sound enginneer there.
If you're really lucky, you'll get venues that have a PA and backline so apart from the drum kit (nuisance) you just plug in and bash it out.
These are all the downside of gigs but performance almost makes it worth it.
Almost.

With booking a venue for a gig the band will need to set up the PA system unless there is a technical person there to do this. You should take all your own equipment including microphones.
My boyfriend is in a band and this has been true of the gigs he has done.

From my experience, band members usually bring their gear and set it up and somebody from the venue will help out...

I would have thought you'd be better off asking them that rather than a bunch of people on here who have no idea where you are talking about!
