I am dyslexic as well. What takes a normal person less than 5 minutes to answer most of the posts on these boards may take me up to an hour because I have to work hard to try and get what I am trying to say to make sense. The words are all there in my mind, but sometimes I can't put them in the right order if I just type without thinking about it.
I do not hide behind my disability to justify my screw-ups and neither should you. You don't want to be belittled but you belittle others. What makes you any better than those you accuse of doing what you do?
It is the Americans fault that you don't take the time to proofread your own material and that you *won't* take the time to correct your own mistakes? I don't think so. Be as pissed as you want. You should be mad at yourself. Noone else.
There is no excuse for poor spelling. I know I misspell words on a regular basis but I keep a separate window open to a online dictionary and use it whenever I have a doubt on the spelling of words. Some I miss. I just don't see them. As for grammar, it is a guessing game for me. Try as I do, I know my grammar isn't very good. That does not mean that I don't try though. You should try as well. The disability you have isn't an excuse to be lazy.
Stop taking the easy way out Frankie.

In your case, it's unfortunate; like you I am dyslexic and this occasionally shows, but that's why there's a spell check on this.
While I tend not to pull people up on this, I often ask them to retype a question so that it can be understood. Often it's punctuation that makes reading a question difficult, rather than spelling.
Fundementally; if people want a question answered a) they should make it so that the question can be understood and b) put the effort/thought into it.
After spending a fair amount (too much?) time on Yahoo Answers - I find it's now very easy to get frustrated by people who are too lazy in their questions - which will be the majority of the reason behind all of this.
p.s. on the occasions that I ask for a question to be rewritten; about 10% do.

I think typos are forgivable and the odd spelling mistake can't be helped - my brain goes faster than my fingers some times and spell check doesn't pick up on words that are spelled correctly but used wrongly like there and their - as long as I can figure out what folk are on about, I'm happy.
BUT, when people spell the main word in their question wrong that's just daft! People who do stuff like, and this isn't something I've seen this is just an example, 'Who woz Winstan Churchall' I mean!

Because some people can't help themselves. I make lots of spelling mistakes, largely due to my lack of typing skills and it really gets on my nerves when people point it out. Sure, if I was writing a letter to the queen or applying for a job it might be of critical importance, but on an Internet question and answer board?!?

You don't need to have any spelling mistakes on here - just use the 'check spelling' then nobody will know you are dyslexic. Those who are not and don't use the spell check are lazy. I'm not dyslexic but I am not a good speller so I try to make the effort.

Many people on answers post questions filled with obvious typos and grammatical errors, and since the spell check is provided there is really no excuse. Even dyslexia doesn't hide the spell check button.

Usually, the only times I bring up spelling is if people are having trouble doing online searches, I will point out the correct spelling to help them find what they want. The other time I do it is if a person makes a big deal about his or her knowledge and love for a subject and misspells it very badly, eg. refers to converting to presbitarinism.

I don't too often make mistakes but use the spell check anyway just in case. It just makes it easier for people to read. Sometimes questions are barely comprehensible. It does annoy me when Americans tell me my British words are spelled incorrectly though!

Americans should be the last to pull you up.
I admit , I do tend to criticise spelling, from time to time, but only when it makes the question incomprehensible - or if it's obviously from an American!
